Welcome to the India of Camels and the Desert, Festivals & Lights, Colours & Spectacles. Join Incredible Indian Tours & David Metcalf and experience one of the most fascinating Pilgrimage & Livestock festivals in the world. In addition there are amazing Moghul sights in Delhi, and the wonders of the Blue City, Jodhpur and rural Rajasthan, the ‘Land of Kings’. Included in this tour are the must do’s and our focus is on photography, being at the right place at the right time with a like-minded group and a tour Photographer who is there to assist you in capturing travel images that you never imagined possible, with tutorial and review sessions to ensure you make the most of your photographic experience.

Day 1 Delhi

Arrival Day. Please arrive in time to meet with the group at 12pm when we have a welcome meeting before an afternoon Photographic tutorial.

Day 2 Delhi

We spend the day in Old Delhi on a walking tour that will give you an insight into the different world and way of life here.

Days 3-6 Pushkar

An early start for our train ride to Ajmer, from where we transfer to Pushkar to enjoy 4 days of this spectacle – the annual camel and livestock fair. In addition to the buying and selling of livestock, the fair is held during a particularly auspicious period and attracts tens of thousands of villagers who come here to bathe in the holy waters of the lake.
You will also have the opportunity to take a Hot Air Balloon flight over the Pushkar Mela Grounds weather conditions permitting.

Days 7-8 Rural Rajasthan

We head west into the Thar Desert and experience two nights in a Heritage Hotel, an erstwhile Fort, home to local rulers. Surrounded by a very traditional village, here you have an amazing opportunity to photograph Indian tribal villagers and landscapes almost untouched by tourism.

Days 9-10 Jodhpur

Welcome to the Blue City, Jodhpur, home to the magnificent Mehrangarh Fort and one of the most photogenic places in India. Wander the streets of the old city, famous for the blue wash of the walls and the colourful clothing worn by the locals. We spend a day visiting the fascinating Bishnoi villages with their eco-friendly locals and handicraft makers, not to mention the many species of wildlife, including migratory birds, blackbuck and antelope.

Day 11 Delhi

After a free morning, we return to Delhi by a short flight for a final night to review our amazing photographic experiences of the past 11 days.

Day 12 Departure Day

There are no activities today. You are free to depart at any time.

OPTIONAL Varanasi-Agra Add-on Friday 7th – Thursday 13th November

Days 12-14 Varanasi

We take a morning flight to Varanasi, the sacred city nestled along the banks of the Ganges. We spend the afternoon exploring the Ghats, or steps along the river. We take boats out on the river at dawn and sunset for amazing photographic opportunities, and you also have the option to visit Sarnath, one of the 4 most important sites of Buddha’s life in Northern India.

Day 15-16 Agra

We take a short flight to Agra and spend the afternoon visiting the remarkable Agra Fort. On the morning of day 16 we are up early to visit the Taj Mahal at dawn when it is at its most evocative and ethereal. You will have the opportunity to see the Taj at different times to witness the remarkable changes that the sunlight infuses on the marble mausoleum. Agra isn’t just home to the Taj Mahal, there are other amazing Moghul monuments that you may wish to visit, including the Itimud-ud-Dualah or Akbar’s Mausoleum.

Day 17 Delhi

After a full morning photographing the Taj Mahal and the fabulous sights of Agra, we return to Delhi by road.
