Starting our journey in Bhaktapur in the Kathmandu Valley, we wander this charming old capital of the valley with its unique Nepalese architecture and friendly photogenic people. We head to Pokhara, picturesquely nestled between the mountains and lakes from where we get our first real views of the mighy Himalayas and the Annapurna range. We take a short trip to the Mustang region, with an option to do a day’s trekking to explore some of the spectacular landscapes and scenery of this region. Heading back to the capital we take time to capture some of the Buddhist and Hindu temples and fascinating streets and markets of Kathmandu.
Flying to Bhutan on a totally exhilarating mountain flight across the top of the Himalayas, we take time to visit the sights of the capital Thimpu. We explore the valleys of Punakha and Phobjikha and spend a couple of days at the Nalakhar Tshechu Festival in Bumthang before returning to Paro and the spectacular Taksang Monastery.

Day 1 Kathmandu (Bhaktapur)
Arrival Day. We meet at 6pm to have a brief chat about our tour before heading out for a group dinner in Bhaktapur.
Day 2 Bhaktapur
We spend the morning sightseeing in the magical ancient town and World Heritage site of Bhaktapur and then sunset at the temple of Changu Narayan.
Days 3-4 Pokhara
We fly to Pokhara today where you will have the opportunity to explore the town, shops or visit some of the sights – Temples, Tibetan settlements and hilltop viewpoints.
Day 5 Kagbeni
A morning mountain flight to Jomsom drops us in the high into the Mustang region on the Annapurna trekking circuit. We take a jeep up the Kali Gandaki gorge (the deepest in the world) to the ancient and charming Tibetan village of Kagbeni.
Day 6 Jomsom
An optional trek today (one porter per person to carry your camera gear) for those more adventurous to the small settlement of Lupra provides breathtaking mountain scenery before we descend back down the gorge to Jomsom. Jeeps back to Jomsom for the rest of us.
Day 7 Pokhara
We take another exhilarating mountain flight back to Pokhara where you have the rest of the day to relax, do more walks or take a boat out on the lake for amazing views of the Annapurna Range.
Days 8-9 Kathmandu
A short flight brings us back to Kathmandu where we have the time to explore the sights of this charming quaint capital city small enough to walk around on foot. Durbar Square, Boudnath and the tourist centre of Thamel offer a host of adventures to be had.
Day 10 Dochula
We take a short flight across the Himalayas from Kathmandu to Paro this morning, from where we drive the one hour to Bhutan’s charming capital, Thimpu. We spend the afternoon exploring before driving up to the Dochula Pass for the evening.
Days 11-12 Punakha
Dawn at the Dochula Pass will provide amazing views of the majestic Himalayas before we drive to the picturesque Punakha Valley where we visit the stunning Punkaha Dzong and other beautiful monasteries.
Day 13 Phobjikha
We drive to the lovely valley of Phobjikha for an overnight stop enroute to Bumthang, the cultural and religious centre of Bhutan.
Days 14-16 Bumthang
The Nalakhar Tsechu Festival celebrates happiness, better harvests and general prosperity of the surrounding villages. With colourful ceremonies, religious theatre and exorcism rituals, it is said that those who attend the dances gain merits and blessings.
Day 17 Paro
We fly to Paro and wander the streets of this quaint town.
Day 18 Paro
We have a full day to enjoy the 2-3 hour trek to Taktsang Monastery, knows as Tigers Nest, a small monastery nestled on the side of a mountain, and Bhutan’s most iconic image.
Day 19 Departure
There are no organised activities today. You will be transferred to the airport in time for your onward flight.
