Welcome to Days 3 & 4 of our Top of the World tour
Day 3 we are taking a trip on the UNESCO World Heritage Toy Train to Shimla, the old summer capital of the British Raj. This train takes a little under 5 hours to cover 96km over 864 bridges and through 102 tunnels, whilst climbing from an elevation of 656m to 2076m.

Day 4 we are visiting Shimla, the old summer capital of the British Raj. Later today we will take a walk along the pedestrian only mall past buildings that have seen lifetimes of British and Indian history unfold, as well as exploring some of the countryside and temples nearby, including the hilltop Jakhoo temple with a 108ft tall statue of the Hindu God Hanuman. We will also visit the charming Wildflower Hall, one of India’s best heritage hotels, where we’ll have morning tea. In the meantime, join me for a quick look inside our hotel, one of Shimlas oldest hotels – the Grand Heritage Clarkes, which is in fact the very first hotel operated and owned by Mohan Singh Oberoi, the founder of the Oberoi hotel group.
