Incredible Burma

Burma.

With mythical landscapes and a culture that is a vague cross between China, Thailand and India, Burma – also known as Myanmar – has an ancient history filled with treasures and stories and a people so varied there are over 100 languages. Burma offers a magical journey through time and cultures. Where else could you experience the stunning sight of the Bagan Temples, the beauty of Inle Lake and explore literally thousands of gilded pagodas scattered throughout the country.

Burma has in recent years overthrown the yoke of military control and has now become a magnet for tourists. It has some wondrous sights: a thousand temples scattered across the countryside in Bagan; the leg-rowers and floating gardens of Inle Lake, and majestic rivers – the Ayarwaddy and the Chindwin – navigable into the furthest reaches of the country. But the big draw is the chance to see a country where the 21st-century world has barely intruded. This is changing but there is still a strong sense of the old Orient here. It’s a place where Buddhism is still a way of life.

Travelling to Burma offers a magical journey through time and cultures and is like stepping back in time into a South-East Asia of decades ago.
